FTC became part of Kaplan, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Washington Post Company in 2003. It has achieved a remarkable success rate for preparing students, over 30,000 a year for exams such as the AAT, ACA, ACCA and CIMA including tax qualification programs, training for investment professionals such as CFA®, CPD training and specialist corporate and government training.

The company is continually updating courses taking into account latest changes in syllabus, legislation, regulation, technologies, and practice as well as incorporating new approaches to satisfy continued professional development. This makes for ‘world class training,’ combining professional, technical, emotional and personal competencies.

Stuart Pedley-Smith, a tutor and member of the senior management team at FTC, is dedicated to implement best practice. On observing how some tutors are more effective than others he wished to widen his own skills. He approached PPI Business NLP, a bespoke provider of training. PPI specialise in modeling best performance, communications, appreciation of key patterns, beliefs and behaviors – all attributes that are able to empower and will give individuals the edge over others.

On completing PPI’s NLP practitioner and business focused master practitioner modules he felt inspired and ready to encourage his audience to become more effective. “Our role is to deliver courses that not only contain practical and sometimes essential knowledge, but also to ensure that students and delegates can remember the content of the presentation and are motivated and inspired to implement what they have heard. This separates top tutors from others.” “NLP has given me greater flexibility so that I can adapt my behavior to ensure my audience gets the results they look for.

Techniques that Stuart found particularly useful were modeling, state, language patterns and story telling. Modeling enables identification of the main attributes of top performance. Use of emotional and physical states will influence an audience from the start of the session. State together with language patterns and story telling can grab an audience’s attention on both a conscious and unconscious level. Thus making it easier for the audience to apply what they have learnt.

Stuart chose PPI’s training because of its modular structure. The weekday modular structure fitted in with Stuart’s busy schedule – and he later found that they worked particularly well with his learning style. He was eager to get the most respected accreditation evidenced with Richard Bandler personally signing his practitioner and master practitioner certificates.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was introduced by Richard Bandler and John Grinder as a tool for personal development 30 years ago. It is continually assessing and developing frameworks for understanding attitudes, it models successful performers and provides techniques for improving thought processes and communications skills. Business NLP draws on these studies which can be used in different environments.

Clients of PPI Business NLP include Abbey, Accenture, ACCA, Argos, AstraZeneca, Barclay’s, Birmingham University, BT, BAe, Centrica, ODPM, the PM’s Strategy Office as well as the main public services.

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2005/4/prweb228642.htm

For more information contact Michael Beale on +44 (0) 1908 506563 info@ppimk.com

BT | Design Team

Design Team Harness NLP Business Techniques to Manage Major Changes in BT

Today’s workplace provides daunting challenges and unique opportunities for individuals. To survive and ride the wave of changing markets, technologies and customer requirements managers needs to develop a wider set of skills, attitudes and competences. An employee, Richard Cullen at BT set out on his personal journey of transformation, a journey that has changed his outlook, developed his confidence and expanded his job potential.

London -- BT is undergoing significant changes in search of best practice, which also involves major adjustment and re-definition of many off its staff roles. Its forward thinking approach to staff development is key to overcoming some of these problems of change.

Richard Cullen is a Solution Design Consultant in a team providing software solutions for large-scale BT projects. The most challenging is that of updating the BT network and IT infrastructure. “At first, I needed help to manage change from increased challenges and targets within my own area,” says Richard. He approached PPI Business NLP, a bespoke provider – as he believed that NLP could help him with personal change and development.

BT sponsored Richard’s introduction to the NLP modular practitioner course. The new skills he gained from this course helped him to deal with difficult, emotional and complex situations in a relaxed and less stressful way. In working in this way he gained the confidence to deal with each new challenge faced by his department.

“In absorbing NLP techniques I felt empowered to take on anything; where I’d lacked confidence, PPI’s business NLP training has given me the tools for a positive approach to any issue; I’d be driving home on a high,” says Richard. “I now control both how I choose to perceive a situation and my emotional state.

Richard continued his studies, over a two-year period for accreditation as a Master Practitioner choosing modules in leadership, executive coaching and influence. In consultation with his management and keen to pass on the benefits of NLP, he proposed to broaden his role by providing coaching support to others– this was readily accepted.

Richard’s role has now evolved and fifty per cent of his time is devoted to coaching, supporting around 50 Solution Design staff. His training enabled him to assist his workmates to limit negativity and to take an aware and objective view of interaction and negotiation.

“Initially, I saw NLP as a way of limiting errors during the massive changes we were undergoing,” says Richard. “Surprisingly, despite my technical background, I found my niche in helping colleagues overcome barriers and achieve their potential - this is very satisfying. A further benefit is that of helping them to develop a work-life balance.

BT’s investment in one person is paying dividends in effecting wider change to meet its goals. And its effect on that one person has been profound. Richard confirmed “NLP has made me aware of my internal processes, thoughts and direction in life. I now no longer believe that there’s anything I can’t do.”

About PPI Business NLP
PPI Business NLP was formed in 2000, by Michael Beale, who has 14 years experience of sales, marketing and strategy development for BT, 3M and ITT, plus 9 years as a retail buyer and merchandise controller for B&Q and Argos. Developing a stronger partnership with customers is essential for navigating such changes. James Prior, an employee of AstraZeneca, is involved in leading this journey.

London – AstraZeneca is putting significant development into ensuring it has the best sales force in the UK, moving towards being partner of choice with its customers. This means developing a stronger appreciation of the wants, needs and values of their customers, together with a greater awareness of their own communication styles.

James Prior is Skills Development and Speciality Care training lead, who works with a team of 5 to develop speciality care skills packages for a sales field force of 1200. He approached PPI Business NLP, a bespoke provider – as he believed that Business NLP could help him achieve his objectives. As a starting point he wanted to demonstrate the benefits of a focused business NLP approach for himself.

AstraZeneca sponsored James to complete his master practitioner accreditation; he chose to study modules in leadership, change management and executive coaching. He instantly recognised the benefits in both raising his own self awareness and giving him an additional set of tools to use. James explains “I noticed the impact of my own communication and I was immediately able to put into practice skills that I had been learning for some time. This made me easier to talk to and in turn enabled me to raise the value and worth of my own team.”

James added “Understanding my own personal communication styles was a key step in building on my current skills to communicate with others”

Two techniques that James found exceptionally valuable were ‘values’ and ‘timeline.’ ‘Values’ is a questioning and listening approach that enables the practitioner to find out what’s important to his or her client. ‘Timeline’ is a visualisation or kinaesthetic approach to explore and achieve future goals. James continues “Both are easy in principal; the art is in developing the skill set to do them well.”

James believes that this training will have a profound benefit in providing a comprehensive tool set those working in the care industry.

James choose PPI’s NLP Master Practitioner course because of their business experience and the focus of their team, the small numbers in their seminars and that the accreditation was licensed by Richard Bandler one of the Co-founders of NLP. He is planning to continue his studies with the hypnotic influence module and other master-class modules.

Clients of PPI Business NLP include Abbey, Accenture, ACCA, Argos, AstraZeneca, Barclay’s, Birmingham University, BT, BAe, Centrica, ODPM, the PM’s Strategy Office as well as the main public services.

Taster sessions – at no charge are available in London and Milton Keynes.

PPI's website www.ppimk.com has had over 380,000 hits over the last four years demonstrating the interest in Business NLP. Phil Morley, Account Director for the performance support team in the NHS is using NLP techniques to help Chief Executives in the NHS meet and exceed their performance targets and improve patient care.

London -- Focusing on providing a better health service is an ongoing objective in the NHS. This includes improving access to the correct service at the right time and place, upgrading the patient experience, respecting the patient’s dignity, improving the overall quality of services and setting realistic performance targets. This is a significant challenge within a period of rising patient expectations and limited budgets.

Phil Morley is Account Director for the performance support team in the NHS. He and his team are responsible for providing support and interventions to all the Chief Executives of Health Organisations who have not reached their performance targets. He is keen that the goal of improving ‘patient care’ is at the forefront of meeting performance targets.

He approached PPI Business NLP, a bespoke provider of training specializing in problem solving, communication and widening peoples’ understanding and horizons. He felt that NLP would enable him to give a extensive tool-set to his Chief Executives as to how they could meet and exceed their targets. The NHS funded Phil to complete his NLP practitioner and master practitioner accreditation.

Phil discovered that he is now in a position to offer his NHS clients a more extensive tool set to achieve their targets. He is able to provide useful suggestions on relationships and behaviour as well as process, systems and strategy. Having studied NLP his listening skills improved. “I now listen with my eyes as well as my ears, it makes a tremendous difference to my effectiveness” confirmed Phil. “I am able to use language and questions to interrupt and expand peoples thinking. It’s all surprisingly easy”

Specific NLP techniques that Phil found particularly useful were state, anchoring and logical levels. State is where you consider the best emotional and physical state to access for any intervention, anchoring enables you to access that state at the appropriate time. Logical levels is an approach that enables the client to consider the impact and dependency of the environment, behaviour, skill level, beliefs and individuals identity on any suggested change.

Phil chose PPI’s modular training because the company came personally recommended and he appreciated their exploratory approach – explore different options and find out what works. He also liked the company’s unique business and organisation background and that their seminars were accredited by Richard Bandler.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was introduced by Richard Bandler and John Grinder as a tool for personal development 30 years ago. It makes the whole coaching process so much easier.” Specific NLP techniques that David uses in his business include state management, anchoring, questioning techniques and timeline.

Attitude Engineering’ is a format developed by David Regler to coach entrepreneurs, business owners and sales executives to develop new and profitable business. The company’s main focus is helping clients during the first three years of a business when revenue generation is absolutely essential. ‘Attitude Engineering’ is on track for a £500K turnover within 3 years of launch.

David’s best results are due to understanding where his client is and in tailor making a map for the client to follow to achieve his or her objectives. As many traditional sales approaches are often overcomplicated for to-days competitive market he has developed his own framework. This is based on a pragmatic mix of understanding market opportunities, sales process and the quality actions needed to prospect for customers and closing sales.

On implementing this sales approach David’s clients not only succeed but enjoy the mix of challenge and fun. In many cases his clients are achieving goals that a few months back they would have thought impossible. Karl Kennedy, a sales and service manager client said of David “You have enabled me to unlock hidden potential which I don’t think I could have reached by myself.”

David owes much of his success with clients to the executive coaching, presenting impact and hypnotic influence NLP master practitioner modules run by PPI Business NLP. In taking this route and becoming a registered NLP master practitioner he was able to coach his own clients in improving their confidence and competence.

Neuro Linguistic Programming was introduced as a tool for personal development 30 years ago.
